Evaluation of Tourism Investment Potential in the Western Balkans
What: The Mulitlateral Investment Guarantee Agency established the “Invest in the Western Balkans” program to provide a platform for participating countries (initially Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR Macedonia, and Serbia and Montenegro) to strengthen their outreach efforts vis-à-vis Western European investors.
The program objective was to increase investor interest in the investment opportunities available in the Western Balkan region and to assist potential investors in the site selection, investment decision and project implementation process.
MIGA contracted Scott Wayne to conduct an assessment of long and short term tourism investment opportunities and tourism development overall in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Montenegro. He especially focused on coastal tourism, mountain tourism and cultural tourism, as well as the regulatory environment for tourism development in each country.
A detailed report providing recommendations for tourism investor outreach programs in each country, as well as specific opportunities that might be available to investors.
